Taco has released two new pumps into their ECM circulator pump line. Introducing the 0034e and 0034e-Plus!

The 0034e and 0034ePlus are high-performance, variable speed, wet-rotor circulators with high-efficiency ECM permanent magnet technology.

Their variable speed performance curves are equivalent to the Taco 009, 0010, 0011, 0012, 0012 3-Speed, 0013, 0013 3-Speed & 0014. Ideal for large residential and light commercial hydronic heating, chilled water cooling and domestic hot water systems.

The ECM technology reduces power consumption by up to 85% compared to equivalent AC permanent split capacitor circulators. The 0034e comes with an easy-to-use dial while the 0034ePlus has an intuitive digital user interface.

OmniSite Products Serve as a Diverse Solution for the Town of Plainfield

While BBC Pump and Equipment uses OmniSite remote monitoring systems regularly to help customers motiror lift stations and other pumping systems, we recently helped the town of Plainfield solve a different problem entirely.

Plainfield needed to monitor the water levels of a section of White Lick Creek that runs through a highly trafficked park in the town. It is necessary to monitor the creek level because when a rain event causes the water levels to rise too high, it presents a safety hazard for children and their families using the walkway running alongside the creek.

If the levels reach a certain height, the town must close the walkway. Before finding a solution, a Plainfield town worker was required to physically visit the creek to determine if there was a high-level. This consumed time, led to frustration, and was ultimately not an effective way to keep park visitors safe.

The use of an OmniSite XR50 remote monitoring system helped solve a specific problem, and OmniSite produced a white paper detailing the results.

BBC Pump and Equipment and ElectroCell Systems won the inaugural US Cummins Innovation Gateway, beating out stiff competition from seven other finalists.

BBC Pump, represented by Reid Crandall and Nick Dickos, and Electrocell, represented by Paul McLaine, were provided the opportunity to present before a board of Cummins executives and other outside engineers.

From the Cummins press release:

“Reid Crandall knew he had just five minutes to make his case and five minutes for questions to explain to a panel of 10 judges why Cummins needs a system that enhances industrial cooling towers by reducing water and energy usage.

It was just enough time, however, for Crandall and the BBC Pump and Equipment Co. Inc. of Indianapolis, Indiana, to take home top-honors at the first Cummins U.S. Innovation Gateway in Columbus, Indiana, earlier this week.

‘I’ve never been a part of something quite like this,’ said Crandall, Commercial/Industrial Sales Engineer at BBC. ‘I’ve worked with a lot of companies, but not many are trying to solve problems they don’t even know they have yet.’

The judges included five Cummins leaders, as well as sustainability experts from Purdue University, Indiana University and representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council.

Brian Mormino, Cummins’ Executive Director of Worldwide Environmental Strategy and Compliance, said the event produces the kind of innovative ideas and partnerships the company needs to fulfill its mission of ‘Making people’s lives better by powering a more prosperous world.’

‘Prosperity,” he said, “requires a healthy planet.'”

BBC Pump and ElectroCell will be working with Cummins to install ElectroCell Systems’ patented side-stream particle precipitators and monitor water and energy savings at Cummins sites in southern Indiana. As the technology proves itself, there will be opportunities to help Cummins save resources at locations worldwide.
