Thermodynamic Process Control (TPC)
Understand the System
TPC monitors the energy a heating system is using in real time, utilizing patented Flow Intelligence™ technology.
Act Intelligently
High-fidelity, real-time usage data allows the TPC to modulate boiler output, eliminating costly short cycles and over-firing.
Do More
Take control of the mechanical room. Use TPC to operate hybrid boiler systems, modulate variable speed primary and secondary pumps to control flow rates across the boiler plant, monitor and log energy usage and more.
Fully Integrate
TPC integrates with building management systems via BacNet MSTP/IP and Modbus RTU/IP.
Better Load Management
Most boiler control systems see only a temperature in reference to a pre-determined set point. They bring on boilers at full fire in order to try to eliminate the difference as quickly as possible. This can damage the boiler's heat exchanger by overfiring, and costs energy with expensive pre and post-purge cycles.
TPC sees more.
TPC monitors supply and return temperatures, outdoor air temperature and system flow in order to calculate the real-time building load in BTUs.
Understanding more about actual energy usage in a system allows the TPC's patented algorithm to operate the system more efficiently and eliminate over-firing and short-cycling.
Complete Boiler Room Control
TPC is more than a boiler control; it allows you to take control of your boiler room.
A heating system is more than just the boiler, and should be operated as such. Taking control of all components of the system that provides heat to the building allows for additional energy savings.
A building management system is designed to manage heating loads in a building, and does it well. It is not designed to efficiently generate that heat. Allow controls to work together, each providing what is does best.
Maximize Condensing Operation
Because other controls are in a hurry to reach a set point and shut down, they end up putting out more energy than is needed to meet the building's needs and the occupant's comfort. This means they minimize the run time the boilers can spend taking advantage of the latent heat that is unlocked by low return temperatures.
TPC's intelligent decision making process allows it to keep condensing boilers operating in their most efficient range longer, allowing for increased system energy efficiency.
Manage Hybrid Boiler Plants
Not all projects require or have budgets to replace entire boiler plants with condensing equipment.
With two, independent reset loops, TPC can easily mix and match condensing and non-condensing boilers of different sizes.
Using these two process loops, the system can maximize time spent operating condensing boilers in the condensing range, while operating non-condensing boilers outside that range. This maximizes energy and cost savings while protecting non-condensing equipment from acidic by-products of condensing combustion.
Measure Before Renovation
TPC can be installed before a renovation process to calculate actual building loads, allowing for right-sizing of boilers and other equipment.
Data logs can reveal how building loads develop and react in the real world, helping make better decisions in the design process.
TPC helps building owners make the good choices before and after a project is complete.
