Wanner Engineering has released a new InfoBITS study regarding pumping hot caustics in the cleaning of commercial inks with its Hydra-Cell Pumps.
More Effective High-Pressure Tote and Tank Cleaning of Inks with Hot Caustics
High pressure and a hot caustic (cyclohexane at 120˚F) are needed to wash the interior and exterior of totes and tanks for a manufacturer of specialty commercial inks. It is critical that any remnant of a previous color mix be removed so as not to contaminate the next batch.
A piston pump proved inadequate because its seals would leak at higher pressures. This required costly maintenance and downtime and turning over the tanks to perform hazardous manual cleaning.
A Hydra-Cell D/G-35 replaced the piston pump and delivers the high pressure and impact needed to clean the containers without turning them over or having to replace leaky seals. The seal-less design of Hydra-Cell also enables it to handle dirty, abrasive fluids so it can pump the recycled cleaning solution, eliminating a waste stream.
